F1 | Force India, tripled budget for 2019: "The goal is to enter the top three"

Technical partner Acronis has become the spokesperson for Force India's great future ambitions. The Silverstone-based team, after the period of profound economic crisis experienced under the management of Vijay Mallya, was taken over in recent months by a consortium led by Lawrence Stroll, who intends to invest a lot of money in the team with the aim of to take him to the top of Formula 1.

Sergey Belousov, boss of Acronis, a data protection company, revealed to the Russian portal Championat the aspirations of the team, which in 2019 will field the Sergio Perez-Lance Stroll duo (waiting for the latter's hiring to be made official): “Next year, Force India wants to be in the top three – it's a very strong team. In reality this year it should be in fourth place in the constructors' championship (net of the elimination of points due to the change of name of the team, ed.). In 2019 their budget will triple and, therefore, their position will strengthen”.

The competition, however, is not to be underestimated at all: “Renault will have a new power unit: I think they have made some progress and will improve further. Red Bull will also switch to Honda and will have a good engine." – admitted Belousov.
