F1 | Fisichella: “I hope with all my heart that Schumacher can resume a normal life”

Guest on yesterday's broadcast Italian stories, hosted by Eleonora Daniele on Rai 1, Giancarlo Fisichella paid a moving tribute to Michael Schumacher who continues the long rehabilitation process in his Swiss home in Gland following the accident on the snow in Meribel which occurred on 29 December 2013.

"I inquire about his health conditions, but nothing is known – underlined Fisichella -. I hope with all my heart that he can resume a normal life, but this is difficult to say. I would have liked to have him as a companion, but it wasn't possible. He was an incredible opponent, he wrote the history of Formula One, racing together gave me a lot. The few times I finished in front of him, he made me even more proud because he is a great champion".

"We had a great friendship because he is a great football fan – continued Fisico -. I have been part of the national drivers team for many years and we have done a lot of charity work together. Fate is cruel at times, we have traveled thousands of kilometers and thousands of curves and almost nothing has ever happened and then instead you go skiing for fun what happened happens. I would like to hug him and talk to him again. I would like to tell him what his son is doing (Mick, ed.), the one who is winning and who will probably become a champion like him".

Speaking about his experience in Formula One, where he achieved three victories and four pole positions, Fisichella said: “The best gift I could give to an enthusiast like my father was to drive a Ferrari. I will never stop thanking him for the help he gave me”. To date, the Roman driver is the last Italian capable of winning a race in the Circus (Malaysia GP 2006, ed.).
