F1 | FIA ready to push on the development of the Halo system

In an interview given on the sidelines of the latest in-season tests on the Budapest track, Laurent Mekies spoke about the development of the Halo system. According to what was reported by the FIA technician, each team is pushing to minimize the dimensions due to the safety system, also improving the driver's visibility regarding the thickness of the central pylon. Precisely in this sense, Mekies took as an example the test carried out yesterday by George Russel on a Mercedes, underlining how the version of Halo brought to the track presented some innovations on a structural level. The final objective will be to bring the central pylon to a width of 16 centimetres.

Here are the words of the FIA delegate: “We are continuing development and will try to be ready for testing. At the moment the central support is 2cm thick, but we believe it is possible to improve the visibility of the riders. The objective will be to bring the width of the pylon to 16 cm, helping the pilots and improving the aesthetics of the system itself."
