F1 | FIA, supplier of Halo systems confirmed
Development will be entrusted to the German CP Tech
The FIA has approved the first supplier of the new Halo protection system, a device that is being introduced for the 2018 Formula 1 season. CP Tech, a group owned by Dutch Nedschroef, has been given the green light to produce the parts of the device. The company said that its components “have met the strict requirements prescribed by the FIA Standards”.
General director Thomas Casey underlined how the company was chosen by the Federation because of its “expertise in the complex mechanical processing of titanium and additional materials”.“It is another milestone project that we can be proud of given our experience in the motorsport business” he added.
Halo, remember, was designed to deflect large objects away from pilots. Its development process began in 2011 and will be delivered to the teams early this year. The device will also be used in Formula 2 and Formula E.
