F1 | Ferrari, Vettel on the penalty: "The stewards took a long time to decide"
"I tried to create a five-second gap, but I also had to manage the race until the final stage," admitted the German
Discussing the five-second penalty he received in the Canadian Grand Prix, which cost him his first victory of the season, Sebastian Vettel wondered why the stewards took so long to communicate the sanction.
In the Montreal race, the German was the protagonist of the long turn at turn 3 during the 48th lap and was informed of the penalty (suffered for returning to the track in unsafe conditions, ed.) on the 57th lap.
"I was surprised because the accident was six or seven laps before I got the message about the penalty, I think it's pretty clear that if you commit a crime and shoot someone you're a murderer. I don't agree with the sanction, but I don't understand why it took so long to make a decision”, underlined Vettel to the web portal Crash.net.
The Red standard bearer then added: “We didn't always talk to Ricardo (Adami, ed.), my engineer. Hor tried to concentrate, he told me to try to build a five-second gap. I tried to do that, but I also had to manage the race until the final stage".
