F1 | Ferrari, Vettel on Friday at Suzuka: "I'm satisfied, even if we're not fast enough"

Sebastian Vettel he finished third fastest on Friday's free practice at Suzuka, which opened the weekend of Japanese Grand Prix.

The German, who set his fastest lap in 1'29"050 on supersoft tyre, more than eight tenths behind Lewis Hamilton's best performance, analyzed the work done on the track and declared: "Overall I'm satisfied, as this Friday was quiet for us, but we're still not fast enough".

Continuing with his discussion, the four-time world champion added: “Today we tried some things on the car, which seem to have given us a better feeling, so let's see if it's possible to continue like this tomorrow and find some further ideas. I think today the car was sliding a bit too much, damaging the tyres, but I think overall it was a clean session with no interruptions. We are trying to get the best out of our package, so we continue to focus on our work. This evening we will have to work hard to be fast in qualifying. Obviously if the others tomorrow are as strong as today, then it will be very difficult, but we'll see".

"The rain could make everything much more interesting tomorrow, but for now we keep working, doing our job and then we'll see. This is a long weekend and today is only Friday, so I'm sure there's still a bit to squeeze out of the car”, concluded Vettel.
