F1 | Ferrari, Vettel on 2019: “I should have done a better job”
"I know I can give more. As a team we didn't seem as competitive as we wanted," admitted the four-time world champion
2019 was certainly not an easy year for Sebastian Vettel. In fact, the German suffered, especially in the first part of the season, from a lack of feeling with the car which improved after the summer and also managed to achieve victory in the Singapore Grand Prix.
"I've been here a long time and I'm honest enough to admit that I should have done a better job – said Vettel, quoted by the British portal Race Fans -. I know I can give more. First CI clearly look at what I do, I resolve everything that I feel I need to resolve within myself. I know very well that there are things I can improve".
Vettel, continuing his analysis, believes that in the new season he can reverse the trend of results compared to 2019: "It's not a huge problem, it's not an aerospace engineering concept. It's all in the details. I don't need to drive differently, I know how to drive. Obviously we all work together, we try to improve the car to do it faster, both Leclerc and I. Not I do the same things as ten years ago and I think there are things that can be improved".
Analyzing the last season, which saw him finish fifth in the World Championship also behind teammate Charles Leclerc, he said: “As a team we didn't seem as competitive as we wanted. I think we spent the first half of the year trying to figure out where the performance was lacking, finding answers to what the car was missing and trying a lot of things".
