F1 | Ferrari, Vettel: “We are progressing in all areas, we happen to have ups and downs”

Formula One returned to Europe for the French Grand Prix weekend, back on the calendar after a ten-year absence.

Ferrari arrives at Paul Ricard with the wind at its back, thanks to the success achieved in Canada by Sebastian Vettel which, thanks to Lewis Hamilton's fifth place, allowed it to jump into the lead of the World Championship with a one-point advantage over its English rival Mercedes.

Speaking about the seasonal performance of the SF71-H, the Ferrari standard bearer said: “I think we are progressing in everything, both in terms of the car and the engine. It's not easy to make huge progress, in some races you can clearly be more competitive than others. As happened between Spain and Canada, it is normal to have ups and downs. We are working to try to have more highs and fewer lows".

On Mercedes, which will mount the power unit evolved from Hamilton and Bottas' W09s, Vettel declared: "They are very strong. As I said, in some races it can go better for some reasons. Their strength? I think it's a mix between car and engine".
