Despite the confirmation of Kimi Raikkonen in Maranello for 2018, Sebastian Vettel preferred not to give certainties on the renewal front. The Ferrari German will expire at the end of this championship and on Thursday in Spa he underlined how, contrary to rumours, the announcement of this much talked about renewal will not arrive in Monza. Surprising news given the now almost certain permanence of Valtteri Bottas in Mercedes.
Here are the words of Sebastian Vettel: “The main objective is not the renewal, but the match on Sunday. Subsequently the one in Monza, Ferrari's home Grand Prix. Personally, I don't expect any news on the "contract" front in the next two weeks. As for Kimi, however, I am happy with his stay. He's a fast rider and we have a great relationship. There are no doubts about Kimi's qualities, but it was their decision and therefore they had no choice but to accept it."
