F1 | Ferrari, Vettel: “Starting from the front row we expected to take the victory”

Sebastian Vettel he finished in second place in the Mexican Grand Prix, the eighteenth round of the 2019 Formula One World Championship.

The German finished the race held at Hermanos Rodriguez in the position in which he started it, showing great management of the medium tire in the first stint (37 laps). Despite the cooler hard tires in the second half of the GP, Seb was unable to worry Lewis Hamilton and thus had to settle for second place.

"Today we didn't make too many mistakes, we just didn't believe that the hard tires could last so long if put on very early like Lewis did. He took a risk that paid off”, declared Vettel.

The standard bearer of the Red, discussing the different strategies seen at Ferrari, said: “For our part, we tried both strategies: two stops for Charles, one for me, and the final result shows that both were good. On Friday we had a lot of graining, while today there was none at all: this made the difference by helping those who decided to take a risk".

On the race: “It is clear that we cannot be satisfied, because if you start from the front row you expect, as a team, to take the victory. In the final laps we lacked the speed necessary to try to push in order to grab success. For Lewis and Valtteri today everything really went perfectly while we perhaps lacked a bit of luck".
