F1 | Ferrari, Vettel optimistic despite qualifying: "The race will be very interesting"

Third position for Sebastian Vettel in qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix, fifth round of the 2018 Formula One World Championship. The German chose to make his attempt in Q3 on soft tyres, surprising all the experts who were expecting a much better performing Ferrari on the super soft compounds.

Seb stopped a tenth and a half from the Englishman, completing an excellent lap which, however, was not enough to snatch the fourth pole of this season. In the race, however, Vettel and Raikkonen demonstrated that they can compete and it will be interesting to understand what type of strategy will be implemented to counter the Mercedes.

Here are the words of Sebastian Vettel: “I'm happy with my lap, but the first attempt in Q3 wasn't good. I lost some time in Turn 1 and wasn't able to stay close to Lewis. After the pit, however, I set a good time and the sensations in the car were quite good. I was hoping to stay in front and in this sense I looked at the column, but unfortunately I didn't see my name at the top. I'm not 100% happy, but we expected such a strong Mercedes on this track. Tomorrow, however, the race will be interesting."
