F1 | Ferrari, Vettel: “I've never raced at Portimão, but it's stimulating to race on new tracks”
"It will be important to make the most of free practice," said the German
Sebastian Vettel he is one of the many drivers who arrive 'blind' at Portimað, home of the Portuguese Grand Prix which will take place this weekend, having never ridden on the Algarve track. In fact, the German hasn't even tested it in the youth categories, which is why the free practices will be important to establish a good feeling with the circuit.
Vettel arrives at the Portuguese event after a disappointing eleventh place in the Eifel Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, where the four-time world champion was the protagonist of a spin that once again underlined the difficulties driving the SF1000.
"I have never competed in Portimão so I don't have any kind of reference deriving from direct experience, but I always find it stimulating to come and race on new tracks Vettel said. I studied the track and noticed that there are many changes in gradient and several blind corners that are not easy to interpret. It will be important to make the most of free practice to get in tune with the circuit as soon as possible".
