F1 | Ferrari, Vettel has no doubts: "Mercedes gets closer to perfection every time it takes to the track"

Interviewed by the press at the end of the last Japanese Grand Prix, the seventeenth round of this 2019 Formula 1 world championship, Sebastian Vettel spoke about the performances shown by Mercedes on Sunday in Suzuka, underlining how the world champion team is getting closer to great steps towards perfection.

Despite the performance demonstrated by Ferrari on the flying lap, in fact, Hamilton and Bottas managed to turn the situation around in the race, showing an almost perfect race pace and tire management. A delicate situation, especially from a 2020 perspective, given that the gap on Sunday between Ferrari and Mercedes still appears quite large.

“I don't think Mercedes is missing anything,” said Sebastian Vettel. “As a team we just need to improve and work on our package. Mercedes has shown that it can do this and they have managed to maintain this approach over the seasons. The press doesn't see from the outside what they're doing, but I think they're very close to perfect. They get closer to this level every time they go out on the track."

On the work to be carried out with a view to 2020, he added: “There's no specific aspect to work on, but a lot of little things. The only thing we can do is to try and intensify our work."
