F1 | Ferrari, Vettel: “In 2015 we laid the foundations, now we are strong”

He finally managed to find speed, feeling with the car and, above all, the top of the championship: Sebastian Vettel is ready to interrupt the hegemony of Mercedes and to win his first World Cup with Ferrari. “Our mission this year was to get back to the top – says Vettel – we are experiencing a great season, but it is still not enough". The German thinks that these results are the fruit of the work done since he arrived in Maranello: “2015 was a great year for us, in which we managed to lay the foundations of ours project. In that season there were big changes within the team, but we worked hard without making any proclamations".

The criticisms received last year, however, have not yet been fully digested by the four-time world champion: “I often found myself with fingers pointed at me a priori, I didn't find this right. The failure was the whole team's, not just mine.". The present, however, tells of a high-performance machine, but which can still be improved in some aspects: "We have a strong car. After half the season, we know what the strengths and weaknesses of our car are. We need to improve, but we certainly cannot expect sensational developments overnight." What has never changed is the love for Ferrari: "I have great confidence in the team. This team is very great, everyone works hard. We have more experienced people and other young people who are approaching this great culture. We are happy – concludes Vettel – we want to win by following this path".
