F1 | Ferrari, Vettel: “Hamilton did a great lap, but we are closer in terms of race pace”
The German analyzes his qualifying and jokes: "Mercedes? Let's hope they lower the engine performance tomorrow"
Despite having made up for it from the poleman Lewis Hamilton a gap of six tenths, Sebastian Vettel, 3rd at the end of qualifying at Albert Park, said he was satisfied with the improvements made on the SF71H: “On Friday I wasn't happy with my car, but in qualifying things improved and we were closer. On the last lap I had a little scare at turn 13 where I tried to brake late, but it didn't go well. Overall we improved, but Lewis distanced us in the end and not by a little, I think he did a really good lap: if today they raised the engine performance so much, let's hope they lower it tomorrow".
From a race perspective, the German driver is not worried: "In competition we are better at pace and closer, we hope to play in a two against one against: this is not the best place to overcome, you know, but maybe we will have an opportunity at the start. I'm happy for the team, it's a really good result and we are optimistic about the race. We'll see what happens".
