F1 | Ferrari, Vettel twelfth in free practice in Bahrain

The first day of free practice in Bahrain was not at all exciting for Ferrari. Sebastian Vettel was the better of the two drivers on track, but did not go beyond the twelfth fastest time, 1.1 seconds behind the leader Hamilton. As expected, the SF1000 found itself in more difficulty on the Bahrain layout which has seen it perform so well in the last three seasons and historically almost always since this event existed, with the exception of the 2014 debacle. The German, who appeared good mood after the podium in Turkey knows that there will be suffering in the Sakhir desert.

“Today in the first session we had the sun, while in the second we shot after sunset – Vettel said. However, perhaps due to the time of year we are in, there was much less difference in temperature between the two sessions compared to previous editions of the race. I think this year the Sakhir track doesn't suit us as well as in the past, but we still have work to do and there is room for improvement ahead of tomorrow. Looking at Sunday's race, we know that the track is very harsh on the tires and that it is difficult to make them last long, but I think it's the same for everyone. It is not yet clear which compound works best, and consequently how many stops will be necessary to make. First, however, we must concentrate on qualifying, then we will think about the Grand Prix, because if it is true that the points are awarded on Sunday, there is no doubt that the further forward you start, the better your chances are since you can focus on more strategy and tire management".
