F1 | Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel: “I did my best, but I wasn't able to be fast enough”

On the positive side, from Russia, Vettel takes home only a piece of the cake, that for his 250 grand prix in Formula 1. Unfortunately, this time too, the German's race did not live up to expectations, either for a single-seater which, by now, we know, has its shortcomings, perhaps also due to non-optimal tire management, with a strategy sacrificed to help teammate Charles Leclerc. The two Ferrari drivers, in fact, were among the last to make the first stop, Leclerc returning on the twenty-ninth lap, Vettel on the thirty-first, both switching from the medium to the hard tyre. The German delayed his return to the pits to hold back the two Renaults, thus helping Leclerc maintain his position.

Sebastian Vettel therefore gained only one position compared to the starting position, finishing in thirteenth position, lapped by both Valtteri Bottas, winner of the grand prix, and Max Verstappen.

"It was a rather boring race in which we didn't have any particular strategy options. My start, on the dirty side of the track, wasn't the best and so I wasn't able to take advantage of other people's accidents and problems. When we set off again after the Safety Car I found myself in traffic and struggled to stay close to the cars in front of me” explained Sebastian.

"In the central part of the race the car was faster than yesterday in qualifying, but I had problems managing the tyres, which certainly wasn't helped by the fact that I was constantly following other cars. Today I did my best, but I wasn't able to be fast enough".
