F1 | Ferrari, Sainz enjoys third position: "Great start, a nice injection of confidence"

Carlos Sainz is without a shadow of a doubt one of the main protagonists, if not the main one, of Sprint Race which took place this evening on the Interlagos track. In fact, the Spaniard, benefiting from the soft tyres, made the best use of the start which took him to second place, overtaking Pierre Gasly's AlphaTauri and the Red Bull duo. Subsequently (lap 4) he had to give way to Verstappen, but he was very good at keeping Perez at bay, thus maintaining third position thanks also to excellent tire management.

"The start was great, it was needed because it was something I wanted to improve on in the second half of the season – said Sainz – Today I succeeded and this gives me a nice boost of confidence. In the first three corners I attacked as hard as I could, trying to recover positions, it was a difficult battle with Checo and Max but we managed to get through. After that I struggled a bit with the soft tires until the end and managed to keep Checo behind. I was always at the limit, in Turn 1 we were always very close. Sometimes I managed to defend myself, other times I put myself on the outside. But the pace was good and I managed to manage the tyres. Today the colder track conditions made the soft tires better, tomorrow will be a little different".
