F1 | Ferrari, Sainz fourth in free practice: "It's important to complete the program"

An all in all unexpected fourth position for Carlos Sainz after the second free practice session in Bahrain. The Ferrari Spaniard finished two tenths behind Verstappen, certainly catching the eye due to the excellent adaptation he had on the first official working day of this 2021 and dressed in Red. They are only tests, certainly, but it is already a positive sign of growth for this SF21 compared to last year's disgrace.

“Today there were very different conditions between the first and second sessions – Sainz said. In FP1 everything seemed quite normal but in FP2 the situation changed a bit in terms of wind and obviously track temperature, which made balancing the car more difficult and compacted the grid. We were surprised by how close everyone's flying laps were in terms of performance. Lap after lap I can understand a little better how this car behaves and how it adapts to changing conditions. It will obviously take some time, so it was important for me to have a clean Friday and complete the program. Tomorrow there could be different conditions again, especially with regards to the wind, so we have to progress step by step, in view of qualifying."
