F1 | Ferrari, Sainz: “I don't know how much progress the SF21 has made compared to the SF1000”

The tests at Ferrari went as expected, with the new SF21 clocking up kilometers without revealing any reliability problems. This year the Red Team is called upon to make up for the last difficult season where it did not go beyond sixth place in the constructors' championship with a single-seater, the SF1000, which on several occasions showed important technical shortcomings.

Sainz, however, prefers not to make comparisons with the recent past, also because he did not experience last year's Ferrari firsthand.

"I can't compare it to anything because I don't know last year's car so I don't really know how much progress it has made – admitted Sainz, interviewed by Mundo Deportivo – In theory this year's cars will be slower and will have other characteristics. So if Charles hasn't spoken badly about the car, that's already something positive. I'm focusing more on myself, trying to learn from the car, from the team, trying to adapt, stay calm. I can't afford to make comparisons yet because I have no experience".

The new standard bearer from Maranello, completing his technical analysis, then added: “Cars are really difficult to drive, we are not the only ones who spin, lock the wheels. I think we're all in the same situation a bit. But at the moment it's like I'm not going 100% and I'm not going to the limit at all because it doesn't seem too difficult to ride".
