Carlos Sainz, third in the last daring Russian GP, ​​had recently declared that he did not want to end up like Rubens Barrichello, that is, to be the second driver in Ferrari behind the winner. Statements that were not liked by everyone, as they would sound almost offensive towards the former Brazilian driver, winner of eleven GPs in his career.

Sainz himself then returned to the topic, explaining how the media misrepresented the content of what was declared.

“I was very disappointed by the headlines - the words of Sainz, who then continued - I was asked what I would decide to be at Ferrari if I had the choice between Schumacher and Barrichello and of course I replied that I would prefer to win, an obvious answer. Then what happens is that the statements pass from one media to another and in the end only the title remains. Now Brazilians criticize me because they think I wanted to diminish what Rubens achieved in his career, but I could never. He won many races, I won none. We are friends, I have great respect for him. I am disappointed when I read certain things, from today I will be much more cautious when it comes to talking about colleagues or drivers who raced and won with Ferrari."
