F1 | Ferrari, Sainz: “The podium in Monaco was the least fun of my career”

The first season in Ferrari saw Carlos Sainz finish in fifth place in the Drivers' World Championship with a haul of four podiums. The first of which was obtained in Monte Carlo, where the Spaniard finished the race in second place. In this regard, recalling the Principality GP, Carlos admitted that that Top 3 placement was the least enjoyable as he could have achieved a more important result without that red flag caused in qualifying by teammate Charles Leclerc. A situation that did not allow the number 55 to improve its fastest lap.

"Monaco is the least fun podium of my career – Sainz told Marca – On Sunday I was really angry. For what happened to Charles in qualifying and everything else. I remember that for three days I didn't recover from the disappointment because it was my first chance to win a race and take pole. In Ferrari I came across one of the fastest drivers I have ever faced. A very complete driver. I have come from two very good years at McLaren. I wasn't afraid to face anyone. My mid-season was tough. I had to adapt, but in the second part I started to go very fast and I felt very comfortable with the car. This allowed me to perform and race at the level I expected of myself".
