F1 | Ferrari, Sainz: “I learned many things from Leclerc”

Carlos Sainz was the protagonist of a more than positive season, finishing in fifth place in the Drivers' World Championship, ahead of teammate Charles Leclerc in the standings. The Spaniard, who arrived from McLaren to Maranello taking the place of Sebastian Vettel, admitted how he learned many things from the Monegasque which affected the results he achieved driving the SF21.

The standard bearer of the Red team achieved four podium placings, while Leclerc only obtained one, showing great consistency especially with regards to consistency in the race.

"I should single out a lot of them because this year, to be honest, since the winter tests in Bahrain I have had a lot of things to learn from Charles – said Sainz, quoted by Crash.net – I had to adapt to the particular way the Ferrari drove to be fast, I had to copy many of the things I saw in the data. Sometimes it was hard to believe that it was possible to do it and it was so crazy to do it so quickly and it was actually a bit shocking, but little by little by adapting and trying to learn from him I managed to get to a good level and I'm there still things to learn during the winter break. He is much stronger than me in certain areas".

Sainz, continuing to talk about Leclerc, added: “We will exchange some information and try to both become better drivers by learning from each other. I think this battle and close competition will bring myself and Charles to a better level next season and will also benefit Ferrari. It's a great challenge to have a great teammate and a great guy".
