F1 | Ferrari, Sainz: “It's difficult to pass Ricciardo”

Sixth position for Carlos Sainz in the British Grand Prix. After a good double start, the Spanish Ferrari driver was unable to exploit the competitiveness of his SF21, remaining behind Ricciardo's McLaren for the entire second part of the race, inevitably due to the stop and that problem with the front left. Definitely a good performance for the #55, but a pinch of inevitable regret for not having managed to at least get sandwiched between the two MCL35Ms from Woking.

“It certainly wasn't the best of possible races – admits Sainz – but in general today is a really excellent result for the team, with many positive things to take home. The car was strong and had good balance, a sign that all the work we have done on the setup is paying off. Both starts were good and allowed me to fight with Ricciardo. However, passing him on the track was really difficult. I had dirty air in the corners, so I couldn't get close enough, and on the straights we lacked point speed. After his pit stop, I was really fast in clear air and managed to virtually overcut him before stopping too. Unfortunately the pit stop was slow. The team has always made excellent pit stops this year, these things happen. I did my best to overtake the McLaren in the second stint, but we had the same problem as the first, and so I finished sixth. Well done Charles, who almost managed to bring home a victory! This race gives us good feelings for Hungary and for the second part of the season. Let's keep pushing."
