F1 | Ferrari, Sainz still in the gravel: "A gust of wind made me go off the track"

Another performance to forget for Carlos Sainz, fourth in his home Grand Prix after a series of errors that effectively affected his weekend. The Spaniard from Ferrari, third on the grid, started very slowly, getting squeezed in from all sides. Then, in an attempt to recover he spun at turn 4 a few laps later. Thanks to an absolutely competitive car compared to almost all the others on the track, Sainz managed to recover up to fourth position, too low for the potential expressed by the F1-75.

“It was a very difficult Sunday and far from what we hoped for – Sainz said. A strong gust of wind made me go off the track and unfortunately I suffered some damage to the car. From that moment on I struggled a lot because I lacked aerodynamic load, I was sliding a lot and the tires suffered as a result. We gave our all to recover and managed to climb up to fourth place which isn't too bad considering the circumstances, but it's far from what we wanted. The retirement of Charles, who was in the lead, is a great shame, but we will all work as a team to return stronger to Monaco. The best thing I take home from today is the public who supported me the whole time from the stands, I thank all the fans. Let's look forward to the next one!".
