F1 | Ferrari, Sainz: “We had a good lap at the end of Q3”

Third time for Carlos Sainz in qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix. The Spaniard, fresh from the first career success achieved last Sunday on the Silverstone track, like his teammate Charles Leclerc was mocked at the end of the session by Max Verstappen.

The three finished the official tests separated by only 82 thousandths. Sainz will therefore start from the second row in tomorrow's Sprint Race, having Sergio Perez's Red Bull next to him.

"Reviewing the lap you can certainly find some points, you lost that tenth which would have given us pole, but I'm sure that my two rivals could also find points where they lost or gained – Sainz declared at the end of qualifying – The positive thing is that we did a good lap at the end of Q3, it wasn't easy because the tires were very cold after the red flag and you have to have confidence in the car. I could have done a little better, but I'm quite close to the other two, I hope to beat them tomorrow".

"It was a good qualifying, we didn't take too many risks in Q1 and Q2 then we attacked in Q3. I think this part of the work was done well and I certainly have more confidence, I feel more comfortable after the last races. There is still work to do, the important thing will be tomorrow's FP2 where we will be able to test the race simulation, the tyres, and we will try to get more comfortable before the Sprint Race and then the race. I will try to win the Sprint Race. Starting from P3 and from the clean side of the track there could be a possibility. It will be a fun race with the trails, the DRS. It will be a nice weekend".
