F1 – Ferrari: First steps towards Melbourne

Upon returning from the first tests of the season, the team wasted no time and immediately gathered in Maranello to carry out the usual technical de-briefing under the guidance of Team Principal Stefano Domenicali. Never like this year, with the advent of the new regulations, has the amount of work been so high during the tests carried out in Jerez de la Frontera: “Four very demanding but fundamental days for the work that will be done in the next few days in Maranello ” – commented Domenicali to the official Cavallino website – “The technical parameters of the F14 T, as well as the aerodynamic results verified on the track, fall within our expectations and offer us a solid starting point which we will now have to continue to make the most of. In Jerez we concentrated our main efforts on fine-tuning the new systems with the aim of guaranteeing the best possible functioning of all the components that make up the new power unit. I was also very pleased to see – even if there was no need – how both our drivers have gotten in tune and how they have already given important indications for the development of the car.”

There was no shortage of observations on the values on the field relative to the competition: “We cannot evaluate the performances at this moment, neither those of the F14 T nor those of our opponents” – continued Domenicali – “The important thing was to be able to complete the greater number of revolutions to have the data our engineers need available. It is premature to make precise assessments but what matters most is to have clear ideas on the activities to be carried out and the direction to take to arrive in Melbourne in the best possible condition."

Another aspect on which Domenicali wanted to comment was that relating to the general situation of the Formula. “We are certainly facing a new era of this sport” – concluded the Team Principal – “As always when there are such radical changes it is worth not rushing to make premature judgments and in our opinion the new technologies are truly fascinating. They also represent a challenge that Ferrari, as a car manufacturer, has also accepted for the technological transfer that will be guaranteed within all of our Company's activities."
