F1 | Ferrari, Marchionne: “Vettel? He gets carried away by emotions, but he is a champion."

In the usual Christmas lunch between Ferrari and the Italian press, which took place today at the Maranello headquarters, among the many topics touched upon, president Sergio Marchionne also clearly discussed the seasonal performance of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.

Speaking of the German, who until September was in the running for the world title, then having to take the lead in the comparison with Lewis Hamilton, Marchionne said: “In some situations Vettel seemed like a southerner from a character point of view, he lets his emotions get to him. I think he's learned, he's a guy who works a lot on himself. From now on, with a competitive car, it will be his responsibility. He is a champion, otherwise he wouldn't have won four titles".

On Raikkonen, who last August renewed his contract with Maranello for another season, the Cavallino number one was clear and exhaustive in his opinion: "Sometimes it's nice to see him driving, other times it's not. We must look for the right life to make him perform at his best".

On the driver who will take up the legacy of the Finn, who to date remains the last driver capable of bringing the world title to Ferrari, Marchionne said: “He will be a young man, there are several very talented ones".
