F1 | Ferrari, Leclerc on the Monza round: "It won't be an easy weekend for us"

After last year's closed doors, due to the Covid emergency, this year Ferrari will be able to count on the support of its public in its home race in Monza. An event where, at least on paper, Maranello should struggle as the Brianza track is essentially a motor track. Charles Leclerc, in the press conference on Thursday in Monza, wanted to take stock of the Italian GP weekend where he will try to obtain the best possible result.

Two years ago the Monegasque was lucky enough to win the Monza race as a Ferrari driver, thus allowing the Cavallino to return to savoring the top step of the podium after a fast that lasted nine long years.

"It won't be an easy weekend for us – declared Leclerc, quoted by RaceFans – On paper it is one of the most difficult tracks for us this year. But we will try to give everything. I'm very excited. It's always a very, very special place whenever you come as a Ferrari driver. We were in Milan yesterday, at the factory the day before, and we can already feel the support growing for the race. So I'm really looking forward to it".

After Silverstone, Monza will host the Sprint Race format for the second time this season. A solution that the Monegasque particularly likes.

"I love it. Normally Fridays are pretty boring. We have FP1, FP2, not much happens – said Leclerc – But now you have much more advantages if you have a good FP1 because it is the only session you have before qualifying. So I'm a big fan of Fridays with this format. And you also get another little race, which is exciting with another start. So I really like this kind of weekend".
