The Monegasque is satisfied with the SF-24, but holds back his easy enthusiasm

F1 | Ferrari, Leclerc: "It's not a given that we will win many races in 2024"

The new Ferrari SF-24 it was a pleasant surprise in the pre-season tests in Bahrain concluded yesterday. The car, with which the Cavallino team is preparing to compete in the 1 Formula 2024 World Championship, seems to have put the obvious problems that had characterized the SF-23's course behind it.

Charles Leclerc, discussing the quality of the technical project launched in Maranello, admitted that events had progressed compared to the recent past but at the same time the Monegasque preferred to avoid flights of fancy in the presence of a Red Bull (together with Max Verstappen) which logically appears to be the great favorite for the world championship double again this year.

“From the first lap in the simulator it seemed like an easier car to drive every time we drove with a bit of wind – declared Leclerc, quoted by RaceFans.net – Likewise on the track, from the first laps, the feeling It was good. We managed to be consistent right from the start and this will help us in the race. However, driving ability and competitiveness are two very different things."

The Monegasque continued and added: “Last year we struggled a lot to be consistent because the car moved everywhere every time there was wind. But this doesn't necessarily mean, especially in qualifying, that we will win a lot thanks to this. And that means nothing compared to Red Bull."
