F1 | Ferrari, Leclerc: “Fighting for the victory was incredible”

Charles Leclerc is without a doubt the moral winner of the British Grand Prix. In fact, at Silverstone the Monegasque from Ferrari cherished dreams of victory, which unfortunately vanished at the end of the race where he was decisively overtaken by Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes with the seven-time world champion managing to climb to the top step of the podium in front of the public. Friend. Leclerc cannot be blamed for anything at all, having driven impeccably throughout the race.

"It's hard to enjoy 100%. It was an incredible race, I didn't give 100% but 200 – admitted Leclerc – But it wasn't enough in the last two laps. Congratulations to Lewis, he did an incredible job and it's amazing to see so many fans in the stands. It was fun in the car but just lacked a bit of pace towards the end. We definitely didn't expect it. We expected that after qualifying we would be quite competitive, but not as competitive as now. We fought for the win, and it was incredible".

Leclerc then, continuing to analyze the Silverstone weekend, underlined the great work of the team which achieved the podium and P6 with Carlos Sainz: "Especially on the medium we were extremely fast, then on the hard we lacked a bit of pace from Mercedes but overall it's much stronger than what we're used to. The team is working incredibly well, so I'm very proud. It's great to have these types of races. Cheer everyone up. It shows we're doing something right. We are working in the right direction. We have to continue like this. It won't be a smooth ride until we get to the top, but we'll give it everything".
