F1 | Ferrari, Leclerc in sixth row: "We were aware that we couldn't do better than this"

Charles Leclerc is certainly disappointed with the twelfth position achieved in qualifying in Bahrain. The Monegasque suffered more than Vettel for practically the entire weekend, but in the end the gap from his teammate was minimal, just a handful of thousandths, a clear sign of how Ferrari was suffering terribly in Sakhir. Nothing unexpected certainly, but the disappointment of missing Q3 is not lacking.

“After this morning's free practice I didn't believe we could have done better than twelfth position – admits Leclerc – but considering how qualifying went, I have the feeling that here and there we could have done better and for this reason I can't hide my disappointment at not being able to get into the top ten. Seb and I are the first on the grid to have free choice in terms of tires but I don't think it will be a big advantage here: in fact starting with the mediums seems the best choice but also most of the cars in front of us will have to line up with the same mix. It will be a difficult race, in which the tires will overheat easily and in which being able to manage them can make the difference."
