F1 | Ferrari, Leclerc: “Intense but overall positive day”

Second half for Charles Leclerc in FP2 of the Russian Grand Prix. The Monegasque, the fastest in the morning, achieved his best performance in the afternoon in 1'33"497, 0"335 from the best lap created by Max Verstappen's Red Bull.

"My day was intense but overall positive. We still have some work to do in view of qualifying, while I am satisfied in terms of race pace”, underlined Leclerc.

Then speaking about the adaptation of the SF90 to the Sochi track: “The characteristics of the track can be deceiving because it offers several similar curves. But finding the ideal car set-up is not at all easy because the first and second sectors are fast and so, when you get to the third, the tires are no longer in optimal conditions. Furthermore, in terms of configuration you would need different adjustments than those needed to have a good performance in the first two thirds of the track".

Completing his analysis he added: “It is therefore a question of finding the right compromise, which allows us to be very competitive on the flying lap without having to sacrifice race pace. In this sense we have tried various things and now it's a matter of making the most correct decisions. Our rivals are strong and we must continue to work hard to hope to extend the form of the last three races here too".
