F1 | Ferrari, Leclerc: “It went better than expected”

Sixth position and good race pace for Charles Leclerc, who with Ferrari will try to repeat the excellent performances of the two races at Silverstone. The Monegasque, 1.2 seconds behind Hamilton's best time, performed well in the long run, especially with the medium tyres, lapping enough and with a certainly interesting pace. Obviously the qualifying lap needs to be sorted out: between him and Vettel, twelfth, there are only two and a half tenths, and therefore nothing is enough to finish from riches to rags, on a circuit like that of Barcelona which certainly does not favor comebacks and above all overtaking on the track.

“It was a positive day and once again I would say that it went better than expected – Leclerc admitted. Our performance in qualifying configuration was good, although there is still work to do to improve. I'm confident, we can bring out the maximum performance tomorrow and if I manage to set up the car as I intend, I think we can bring home a good result on Sunday too. As regards the race simulation, in fact, I can say I am satisfied. We have a large amount of data from this winter but it is not easy to compare it with that collected today in such different conditions. The heat? On the track it's not even that unbearable but when you sit in the cockpit inside the garage it feels like you're in a sauna."
