F1 | Ferrari, Leclerc ahead of everyone: "We can still improve"
"Let's try not to get too excited," said the Monegasque
from Monte Carlo, Monaco
After a start to the day certainly to forget, Charles Leclerc took the lead in free practice for the Monaco Grand Prix. A result that is certainly unprecedented for Ferrari in recent times, but which demonstrates the quality of a car that manages to stand out in the slow streets of Monte Carlo. For its part, #16 certainly made up for a morning to forget due to the gearbox failure. Could this be the prelude to a long-awaited turnaround on his home weekend after the disastrous results of past years?
“I'm quite surprised at how the day ended after the difficult start this morning, when I was only able to do four laps – Leclerc said. It's always important to do kilometers in free practice, but especially here in Monaco. However, in the second session I immediately felt at ease in the car and I am also convinced that there is still some room for improvement. On the other hand, I think that our opponents have even more of a margin than us, so it's best not to get too excited about this result. We have a whole day to work tomorrow and I think that only on Saturday in qualifying will we see what the values on the field really will be."
