F1 | Ferrari, Leclerc: "We gave everything, even if second place wasn't what we wanted"

Charles Leclerc he finished the Austrian Grand Prix in second place, the ninth round of the 2019 Formula One World Championship of the season. The Monegasque was the protagonist of a great weekend on the Spielberg track, where he came close to the first historic victory of his career.

Leclerc, who started from pole position, remained in the lead until lap number 69 where he was overtaken by Max Verstappen's Red Bull (the Dutchman was on fresher hard tires than those of the SF90 number 16, ed.) which then won the race. The wheel-to-wheel exchange between Charles and Max was investigated by the judges at the end of the GP, who however decided not to impose any sanctions, labeling the episode as a normal racing accident.

"Overall it was a positive weekend. Unfortunately, it didn't end the way we would have liked. In my first stint I was competitive, we had a really good pace. We stopped early to change tires to avoid losing position to Bottas. This made the second stint longer and more demanding than expected, as the rear wheels degraded a lot in the last part of the race”, underlined the standard bearer of the Red team.

Completing his analysis he added: “Second place wasn't what we wanted today, but this weekend we gave everything and certainly took a step forward. I am convinced that this will bring further progress for the next races and allow us to achieve the success that we all want so badly".
