Sixth and seventh position for the Ferraris in Sao Paulo
Q1. Those of Charles and Carlos are the first two cars to take to the track. The tire is a Soft - as it will be for the entire qualifying - but used. The Monegasque achieved 1'10”789, while the Spaniard achieved 1'10”487.
16.07. The Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow drivers return to the pits for a set of new tyres. Charles gets a 1'09”135 which however is canceled due to exceeding the track limits in turn 4, while Carlos sets a 1'09”046.
16.13. Sainz remains in the garage, while Leclerc must return to the track as he is in last place in the standings. The objective is achieved without risk: 1'09”155, fourth time behind Carlos. Both Ferraris advance to Q2.
Q2. Charles takes to the track and hits 1'08"939, while Carlos gets 1'09"031. The Monegasque then improved to 1'08”859, while the Spaniard did not improve by 21 thousandths. Both cars go to Q3.
Q3. Leclerc is the first to go on the track using a used Soft tyre. He gets a 1'09”403, while Sainz, with new tyres, gets a 1'08”986. Everyone returns to the pits to mount the last set of Soft tires available.
16.57pm. All the cars return to the track for the final attempt. Charles gets a 1'08"960, while Carlos gets a 1'08"826. Sixth and seventh position for the Ferraris, preceded by nothing by Pierre Gasly's AlphaTauri. The usual four in front: Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez.
