F1 | Ferrari, Mexican Grand Prix – High altitude challenge

Mexico – A unique track for a unique challenge. At the end of an intense Friday, the Scuderia Ferrari drivers give their comments on the Mexican circuit and their laps at the SF70H wheel, during which all three compounds were tested both for fast laps and for tests in race configuration. Kimi explains: “It was a normal Friday where we tried different things and solutions to use on the car. Due to the high altitude, the track conditions were not easy and there was always a bit of slipping. In some places it was fine, in others it was a little more difficult. Of course you always want to have a day where everything goes smoothly, with a good feeling from the start, but it's always the same story on Fridays. It's only the first day of testing and we can improve. In the evening we will check everything again, we will try to understand what the best solutions are and we will prepare for tomorrow."
A curious incident complicated Sebastian's afternoon: “This is a day in which not everything went 100 percent. The fire extinguisher went off in the middle of the session. At first I felt a burning sensation, then a cold sensation, so I had to return to the garage. However, we were unable to make up for lost time. This runway is short and there is a lot of traffic, it's not ideal. Furthermore, here it is also difficult to cool the car, the brakes, all the components. So if you're stuck behind someone else, that's not good at all; we always try to be in front and keep up. I think it will be difficult to keep the temperatures low here, but whoever can do it will have the best pace. The car is fast; I think it's important to find the right balance."
