F1 | Ferrari, United States Grand Prix – Variable weather and a see-sawing day

Austin – Once again the SF70H proved to be fast, but Seb's testing was interrupted towards the end of P2 when, about to start the long runs, he felt something strange while driving. In the end he had to spend most of the afternoon session inside the garage. Kimi had a quieter Friday and now Scuderia Ferrari is back at work trying to improve for P3 and qualifying tomorrow.

Seb commented: “It was a complicated afternoon and not an easy session, but the car is fast, so we shouldn't worry too much. The only real ride I did was on the Ultrasofts. I made a mistake before by risking too much and pushing too much too soon. The track was very slippery and I lost the rear end. So we wasted a set of tires and then again, towards the end of the session, I felt something was wrong. We have done checks a couple of times and are now looking at the car to see if anything can be found. Tomorrow I have to find the right rhythm and make sure everything is in order."

Kimi commented: “The weather wasn't great in the morning, but in the end it went well. It was a normal Friday where we tried different things and learned as much as we could. Every track can be difficult when you're trying to go fast and you can certainly always improve, but this was only the first day of testing. We don't know what the other teams have done and obviously it's too early to make predictions. All we know is that we have work to do tomorrow.”
