F1 | Ferrari, Giovinazzi: “The test was productive, we collected a lot of data”

The first in-season test session on the Barcelona track ended today, an important opportunity to work on the set-up but also test new components that will then be introduced during the season. After driving the Sauber C37 yesterday, Antonio Giovinazzi today had the opportunity to drive the Ferrari SF71H, carrying forward the development work planned by the Maranello team. The Italian driver ended the day with the second fastest time overall (1:16.972, just 68 thousandths behind Valtteri Bottas) and 148 laps under his belt.

“It was a tiring day” – Giovinazzi said during the interviews -. “We did a lot of laps, but I really enjoyed it. Apart from yesterday with Alfa Sauber, the last time I had driven in an official session was last year in Abu Dhabi. We had a good programme, with different things to try and different compound tyres. The test was productive and a lot of data was collected to compare with that of the simulator. Being behind the wheel of a Red is always a privilege. And it gave me a fantastic feeling."
