F1 | Ferrari, Giovinazzi and Schumacher reserve drivers for 2022. Shwartzman will be test driver

Ferrari, through a press release published on its website today, announced the complete formation of its line up for next season. The starters clearly remain Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, while the most important changes concern the other drivers. Antonio Giovinazzi, who said goodbye to Formula 1 this year after finishing his third season in Alfa Romeo, will be Maranello's reserve driver together with Mick Schumacher.

The driver from Martina Franca will be available in 12 of the 23 races of the next championship, given his commitment in Formula E with the Dragon team, carrying out an intense program on the simulator which will allow him to become familiar with the 2022 car. On the weekends in which Giovinazzi will be absent, his place will be taken by Mick Schumacher who will be on track in 2022 for the second consecutive season as a starter for Haas.

As for the role of test driver, it will be taken by Robert Shwartzman. The Russian carried out three test sessions during 2021 at the wheel of a Ferrari Formula 1, the last of which saw him as the protagonist in Abu Dhabi where the 18-inch Pirelli tires which will officially enter the Circus from next year. Shwartzman will also be one of those drivers who will join Leclerc and Sainz in driving the new simulator, completed this summer. As regards work on the simulator, Antonio Fuoco and Davide Rigon have been confirmed.
