F1 | Ferrari, private test for Sainz by the end of January

Ferrari will organize a private test to allow Carlos Sainz to begin to familiarize himself with the team on a technical level. Given the only three days of winter testing that will take place in March (one each for drivers), the Cavallino team has put forward this scenario which should take place in the coming weeks on the Fiorano track.

By regulation, however, the former McLaren standard-bearer will only be able to drive one car from previous seasons and the chosen one will be the SF71-H, the car used in 2018 by Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.

"Obviously we are planning to organize something for Carlos, to make sure that he can somehow accelerate his integration with the team, with the engineers, with the car, with our way of working, our procedures – declared Binotto, quoted by Formula1.com – The simulator will be important in this respect. We are currently trying to arrange at the end of January, to race an old car, just to make sure he gets used to the team and our procedures again and gets to know the people".
