F1 | Ferrari, Binotto: “Sainz is a great boost for us, he is fresh air”

Among the topics analyzed by Mattia binotto the press conference on Friday in Imola also included the one relating to Carlos Sainz. The Ferrari team principal expressed his satisfaction in commenting on the adaptation of the Spaniard, called by Maranello to share the garage with Charles Leclerc and to take up Sebastian Vettel's legacy, to this new professional challenge.

The new standard bearer of the Cavallino, who is integrating perfectly into the mechanisms of the Red reality, had an excellent first world championship weekend driving the SF21, immediately scoring points in Bahrain.

"First of all I think Carlos is a very experienced driver. And when I say driver, it's not just his ability to drive, to give feedback, it's his way of integrating within the team. Then discussing the relationship between Sainz and Leclerc he added: “I think it's equally important for Charles because I can see that the two are somehow integrating well. I think they're pushing themselves and each other, which is very good, not only on the track but at home, playing paddle, playing simulators, playing chess, whatever they're doing. I think it's a very positive experience. Overall it's the spirit. I think he's very fast too, but that's not a surprise".

Binotto, completing the discussion on Sainz, said: “He's definitely very fast in the race but he can be very fast in qualifying but I think we've seen that looking at the last few years and we know that in some ways he's a good driver. But I really think about the spirit and the way he deals with the whole team".
