F1 | Ferrari, Binotto: “We feel regret and disappointment”
"Different problems for Sebastian and Charles. Now we have to react and try to do well tomorrow because this is our duty", underlined the Red team principal
Ferrari archives a Saturday to forget. At Hockenheim the Cavallino team was in fact slowed down by reliability problems on both single-seaters, which did not allow Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc to express the real strength of the SF90 on the German track.
Vettel was eliminated in Q1, not recording any timed laps, due to a turbo fuel problem. Leclerc, on the other hand, protagonist until Q2, had to deal with a problem with the fuel pump control system and tomorrow he will start from tenth position.
Mattia binotto, commenting on the outcome of the official tests, declared: “At this moment we feel regret and disappointment, as a team, for our drivers, who had a wonderful opportunity today, for the people at home, who are working really hard, and for all our fans".
The Cavallino team principal then focused his attention on the two lump sums: “We are thoroughly analyzing what happened but we can say that these are two different problems that have never happened before. The first indications on Sebastian's car make us think of a problem with an intercooler component of a specification already used previously, mounted new. For Charles it was a problem related to the control of the petrol pump".
"We demonstrated that our race pace is good and it is even more regrettable that we were not able to complete qualifying. We are angry with ourselves and I for one feel responsible for what happened, but I am equally aware that we must react and try to do well tomorrow because this is our duty”, concluded Binotto.
