Ferrari is betting a lot on the Monegasque, a point of reference for the future
F1 | Ferrari, Binotto: “Leclerc is a leader”

The only positive note in an unfortunate 2020 for Ferrari is the name of Charles Leclerc. In fact, the Monegasque, despite the lack of competitiveness shown on the track by the SF1000, managed to obtain important performances, even leading the Red Car to the podium on two occasions. Results that certify the talent of the young driver from the Principality, tied to Maranello with a long contract until 2024, on which Ferrari is banking to get back on top in the World Championship.

Leclerc, according to the thoughts of Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto, is already a leader and the history of the next few years of the Cavallino will also depend on his results.

"It was an important season for him. Charles doesn't need to demonstrate his speed, we know how good he is – declared Binotto, quoted by Formula1.com – He knows when he has to support the team, when he has to push and improve. Future results also depend on his contribution. I think he is really a leader in this, not only as a driver who has developed a lot this season".

Binotto then added: “He also learned a lot in terms of driving, tire management, race pace, and I think that in his driving ability he improved further during the season itself. I'm pretty sure Charles will be a strong driver in the future. It is already very strong, but it will be even stronger and certainly next year too".
