F1 | Ferrari, Binotto: “Formula One is innovation, it doesn't become F2 or Formula E”

In recent days, Formula One has finally reached an agreement for the reduction of the budget cap starting from the 2021 season: a solution that will help the medium/small teams.

He spoke on the subject Mattia binotto who underlined how this agreement is the best, even if the Circus must not distort its nature.

"Small teams will always ask for lower numbers, but F1 is an innovation platform, a technological competition – said Binotto in an interview with Race Fans -. F1 cannot become some kind of F2 of the future or Formula E. The fact that manufacturers squeeze the technology beyond its limits is important".

On the possibility of Ferrari using the veto: “È something that would be done at the end of a trial if it were completely contrary to what might happen. It's a sense of responsibility, that F1 is the good of Ferrari and that the good of Ferrari is the good of F1, so I don't think it's a battle. We are not in opposite positions. We need to work together to find the right solution".

Binotto then analyzed the issue regarding the freezing of some components and the chassis for the foreseeable future: “It's anti-competitive, but I think that the decision made means responsibility towards sport because we are facing a very difficult situation with Covid-19".
