F1 | Ferrari, Binotto: “The new engine gives encouraging feedback”

There are four races left until the end of a season which has proven to be anything but positive for Ferrari. In fact, the SF1000 proved to be a single-seater that was clearly inferior to the competition, which was undoubtedly influenced by the secret agreement with the FIA which gave power to the current power unit, which is currently in sixth place in the constructors' championship.

Speaking of the engine, Mattia binotto admitted that the 2021 car will have a brand new one. The same Maranello team principal also declared that next year's engine has already given positive feedback on the bench.

"We don't have the best engine at the moment – underlined Binotto, quoted by Formula1.com – I think next year we could have a completely new engine, as per the regulations. At Ferrari we have invested a lot in the development of the power unit for 2021 and 2022. The engine is currently running on the bench and I think the feedback, both in terms of performance and reliability, is very promising. Even though we have some limitations on dyno operations there is still room for improvement and, from what I can see today, I am satisfied with the results".
