F1 | Ferrari, Binotto: “2022 is more important than 2021”

"Our priority is to create a single-seater for 2022," admitted the Ferrari driver

2021 will be a year of transition, awaiting the new rules that will come into force next season
F1 | Ferrari, Binotto: “2022 is more important than 2021”

Ferrari will focus heavily on 2022, the year in which the new technical/sporting regulation will come into force which on paper should allow Mercedes' competitors to fill the gap currently in force on the track. Among the rivals of the Stella team, which has monopolized Formula One since the beginning of the hybrid era by piling up victories and titles, there is also Maranello, which wants to be ready for the challenge next year.

Mattia Binotto has in fact admitted that Ferrari has 2022 in its sights, given that in 2021 the margins for development and improvement of the single-seater are small as the new single-seaters will be almost similar to the previous ones.

"The 2022 season is more important than the 2021 season – underlined the Ferrari team principal – If we start 2022 as a recovery year, it will be even more difficult to close the gap in 2023. Our priority is to create a car for 2022. I assume that we will only engage in major development of this year's car if serious problems arise or we will realize that we can use the developments with a view to 2022".
