F1 | Ferrari, free practice analysis in Russia: small steps forward
Vettel and Leclerc had fewer problems than usual: still difficulties with the soft tires
It was an overall positive Friday for Ferrari, which experienced a less difficult day than expected in Sochi. The SF1000 put on track today seemed to be more balanced than usual, in this case Vettel seemed much more at ease with the car compared to recent weeks, while Leclerc, after a few more difficulties in the morning, found an overall acceptable feeling during the second session. The times on the flying lap are certainly not a miracle, with Charles eighth and Sebastian tenth, but the long runs, especially after the pit stop (both started on the soft tires) and therefore with less fuel load seem to be good. We are clearly not at the level of Mercedes, Red Bull (a bit in difficulty today) and Renault, but perhaps Ferrari can compete with Racing Point and McLaren, at least managing to get both drivers into the top ten, a real feat this year.
