F1 | Ferrari, Carlos Sainz: “We are going in the right direction”
The Spaniard was unable to set a fast lap due to traffic: "We still improved our competitiveness and sensations"
Carlos Sainz ends the day of free practice in Baku with the fifth best time. The Spaniard encountered some difficulties in the first session – where he placed fourth – due to bottoming and porpoising, but things improved significantly in the afternoon. The various yellow flags and the traffic - in particular a long one from Perez - explain Sainz's fifth fastest time, forced to lift his foot and give up the fastest lap. However, it seems that the new low-load wing is working well on the SF-75, and Sainz is regaining some of that confidence lost in the first part of the season, also thanks to the podium in Monte Carlo.

"It was an interesting Friday, as always here in Baku. The first session wasn't easy because I struggled a bit too much with bottoming and porpoising, and this didn't give me the right confidence – explained the Spaniard – in the second session we worked in the right direction and thus we managed to improve competitiveness and sensations. Overall the session went smoothly even though I wasn't able to put together a fast lap on the Soft tires due to the yellow flags. Tomorrow we will try to take another step forward and then have a clean qualifying in the afternoon".
